Max Verstappen holds off Lewis Hamilton by just over a second to win United States Grand Prix in Texas after bouncing back from being overtaken by Brit on first corner to extend lead in title race to 12 points

Lewis Hamilton’s dream of an eighth world title wobbled here in Texas, as Max Verstappen took victory and a tighter grip on the championship’s destiny. Hamilton’s tangible consolation was a point for setting the fastest lap. By the time Hamilton pitted Verstappen had opened up a strong six second-plus advantage. Now just over four seconds between Lewis and Max after lapping Yuki Tsunoda took some time off the Red Bull!. The gap is down from 8 seconds to 6.5 seconds and Hamilton on course for a quickest lap… That’s what Lewis is being told! It looks like Verstappen’s second pit stop will be his final one. Hamilton, Verstappen, Perez, Leclerc, Ricciardo, Sainz, Norris, Tsunoda, Gasly, Bottas. Fierce rival Verstappen is on pole… We’re here in Austin, Texas with six rounds left of the season and just six points between title rivals Sir Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen.
