With Michelin bowing out of the WRC at the end of this season, this hat becomes an automatic collector’s item. Michelin has an involvement spanning more than 40 years in the WRC, helping deliver victories since its arrival. Already in Michelin’s inaugural season in 1973, its tyres took the Alpine A110 to six podium victories. When Sébastien Ogier claimed his seventh world title earlier this month, it was once more on Michelin tyres, as were his previous six championship successes. Meanwhile, Welshman Elfyn Evans has gone from strength-to-strength as a driver, this year landing on the cusp of a maiden world title, only to be pipped by team-mate Ogier in the final round of the season.
