Ken Roczen made it clear at the opening Monster Energy AMA Supercross press conference on Friday afternoon that he was ready for a fresh start. While many have been skeptical of the transition — it’s been 12 years since Suzuki won a Supercross championship —Roczen called it a “desperately needed” change on Friday. We might start off slow tomorrow or we might be right in the mix, I don’t really know,” Roczen said. Team manager Larry Brooks echoed Roczen’s sentiment when expressing his expectations for the Supercross opener. Since 2014, his rookie year in the 450cc class, Roczen has won the opener four times — in 2014, ’15, ’17 and ’22. “There’s a lot of hype about this first race, but I’m mentally in a completely different spot than I was in years past,” Roczen said.
