Fernando Alonso has not given up hope of wresting the world title from Max Verstappen at the age of 41. ‘The championship is long and we will not give up,’ said Alonso. ‘The Red Bull is untouchable, and even with great results we are behind them. ‘But we didn’t have the best car at Ferrari in 2010 and we led the championship heading into the final race in Abu Dhabi. If Max has one or two of those, we will be a little bit closer in the championship. Asked about what in hindsight was clearly an error, Alonso said: ‘For me, it was clear that the lap we stopped was completely dry so why would we put on inters?
