Volkswagen Golf GTI Mk8 | Road Review | Better than the Mk7?

The Volkswagen Golf GTI is back, in its eighth generation form. The new Golf GTI Mk8 is more focused, with stiffer springs, faster steering and a more communicative drive than the old Golf GTI Mk7. Does that make it the best one since the Mk5? We tested it on the roads of Sussex (and a very snowy Goodwood Motor Circuit) to find out if the everyman’s hot hatch GTI is now a car for those who really like to drive. The new Volkswagen Golf GTI has a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine with 245PS and 370Nm of torque through just the front wheels.
