The Monaco Grand Prix is a unique and evocative event, but these days it’s rarely a genuinely entertaining Formula 1 race.
Ahead of the 2019 edition, Stuart Codling and Scott Mitchell discuss whether Monte Carlo still really merits its place on the F1 calendar and whether changes should be made to make it more exciting.
Is there scope for altering the track?
Does the ‘glitz’ of the event make a processional race acceptable, or are the increasing efforts by other grand prix promoters to add a sense of ‘occasion’ to their races taking away some of Monaco’s special selling points?
