In 1997 Tom Kristensen was an F1 hopeful racing in F3000, when he got a call from Joest to come and race at the Le Mans 24 Hours. Sportscar racing wasn't really something TK had done up to that point, but the chance to partner F1 race winners Stefan Johansson and Michele Alboreto was too much of a draw to resist.
