Through the Lens: The 2019 Indianapolis 500 field

This Through the Lens shot of the 2019 Indianapolis 500 field, taken by Chris Owens on the morning of the race, could almost serve as the sport’s Christmas card.
The 200-lap race delivered everything a race fan could ask for, capped by a final shootout between Team Penske’s Simon Pagenaud, who led 116 of the 200 laps, and Andretti Autosport’s Alexander Rossi.
The obvious omission was Fernando Alonso and his McLaren team, which were bumped from the field by Kyle Kaiser and Juncos Racing in a last-minute qualifying run.
The 104th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge is set for May 24, 2020.
