We know the anticipation is building for the exciting new era as Aston Martin Formula 1 Team, so in our final The Race That Was entry – we’re going back to the very beginning!. The United States Grand Prix – held in Phoenix, Arizona – was the beginning of the 1991 season and the genesis of Team Silverstone as Jordan Grand Prix. The new team turned up to the race with the Jordan 191, fitted with a Cosworth engine and driven by Bertrand Gachot and Andrea de Cesaris. By November, the Jordan 191 was testing for the first time at Silverstone with Grand Prix veteran John Watson. The Grand Prix itself proved attritional with just 12 of the 26 cars classified. The 1991 season would finish with Jordan as occasional point-scorers and taking P5 in the Constructors’ Championship, marking the first chapter in the Team Silverstone story.
