While Ott Tänak suffered another disappointing result at Renties Ypres Rally Belgium earlier this month, the Hyundai Motorsport driver has talked of the boost a 1-2 finish offered the Alzenau-based squad. “This was a good result for the team,” the Estonian acknowledged. The result ended Toyota Gazoo Racing’s run of five straight wins, dating back to Tänak’s success at Arctic Rally Finland in February, and enabled Hyundai to narrow the gap to Toyota by 18 points in the manufacturers’ standings. Tänak led the event after the opening stage before tyre damage intervened and admitted he enjoyed competing on team-mate Neuville’s home round.
