Sebastian Vettel dons pro-Ukraine, anti-war helmet on the first day of Formula One pre-season testing in Bahrain – with lyrics from John Lennon song Imagine inscribed on the top

Formula One star Sebastian Vettel has again made a pro-Ukraine, anti-war statement on the first day of pre-season testing in Bahrain on Thursday. Jens Munser, who designed the helmet, tweeted: ‘Imagine all the people * living life in peace #RacingUnited #StandWithUkraine No War,’ with dove, peace, Ukraine and flower emojis. Speaking about his open opposition to the war, the 34-year-old said: ‘I think everyone has an attitude. I don’t think there’s a winning side to this kind of thing. However, Vettel – an open LGBTQ+ supporter – and his team have been criticised for the presence of Saudi Arabian oil company Aramco on the helmet, given the country’s involvement with conflict in Yemen.
