The man who axed Mick Schumacher thinks the German driver could eventually return to Formula 1. After two seasons together, Haas boss Gunther Steiner decided against renewing the deal with 23-year-old Schumacher into 2023 – citing the need for a more experienced driver. When asked about Mick’s fate, Steiner told the German broadcaster ntv: “I think he’s in a good position at Mercedes. “He stepped in at Williams and got a regular cockpit at Alpha Tauri,” said Steiner. But if there’s a chance, Mick can get in there and drive. And in the meantime, Steiner expects Hulkenberg to quickly re-acquaint with Formula 1 after a three-year gap as a full-time race driver.
