A strong effort from Lance means that the BWT Racing Point F1 Team will start its final race inside the Top 10 for Formula 1’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Both drivers undertook short runs on the Soft tyre while collecting further data on the Medium compound – racking up 29 laps across the two RP20s. Lance would take P7 at the end of the session after lapping in 1.37.030, while Checo was in P10 after setting his best time of 1.37.227. Both drivers were able to set strong lap times on their first run of Q1, with Checo taking P6 after a 1.36.034 lap time and Lance’s 1.36.502 effort earning P9. Lance’s first effort put him in P9 after a 1.36.448 on the Soft tyre, which ended up being the preferred tyre for most of the field.
