Report: Checo Overcomes Algarve Adversity

Checo and the team fought back from opening lap chaos in Formula 1’s Portuguese Grand Prix to leave the circuit holding P3 in the Constructors’ Championship. Having dropped to the back with a puncture, Checo switched from the used Softs to a new set of Mediums at the end of the first lap, meaning Lance took over as the leading Racing Point driver. Checo would stop for the final time on Lap 46 and switch to used Softs, battling hard to hold onto P5. Checo: “When you consider how the race started, P7 is a very good result and we can be proud of the recovery. Checo was unlucky to be hit by Verstappen on lap one, which caused a puncture and dropped him to the back of the field.
