Portuguese Grand Prix CONFIRMED for the 2021 Formula One season, with Portimao returning to fill vacant round-three slot having hosted its first race last year… and talks are underway to allow fans back in too

The Portuguese Grand Prix has filled the final vacant slot on the Formula One calendar just three weeks before the start of the season. ‘We are thrilled to announce that Formula One will be racing again in Portimao after the huge success of the race last year,’ Domenicali said. ‘We are confident and excited about our 2021 season, having shown last year that we could deliver 17 races safely and bring our millions of fans thrilling racing at a difficult time. Other plans for the third race included moving the season opener in Bahrain to the second round and holding a double header – as in 2020 when a shortened circuit was used for the second race late last year. The race at Imola remains the only minor uncertainty on the calendar, with the title of the race yet to be officially confirmed having been known as the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix last season.
