ROSSBURG, Ohio — Late model drivers from the Land of Lincoln had a night at Eldora Speedway. “He was right on me [the lap before],” Pierce said. O’Neal took off with the lead again, but only briefly. “Hudson – he was getting through them corners pretty well; he was a little better than us,” Pierce said. “I wasn’t for sure, but I saw that [Thornton] didn’t go to the top of [the lapped cars], so I knew he was gonna get slowed down,” Shirley said. Thornton slid up to the top while Shirley stuck to the bottom with a lapped car right in front of him. “I thought that lapped car was gonna be in the way because of how much speed I was getting off the corner,” Shirley said.
