Patrick Tambay dead at 73: Former F1 driver who starred for McLaren and Ferrari dies after long battle with illness

Tambay, born in Paris in 1949, also raced for McLaren, Renault and Team Haas – and competed in two 24-hour Le Mans races. Tambay also loved skiing and was a junior champion before focusing fully on racing. Tambay’s son Adrien also became a racing driver – as did his godson Jacques Villeneuve, the 1997 F1 world champion.
