Oscar Piastri blames ‘inexperience’ for disappointing qualifying in Melbourne as rookie reveals major concerns ahead of his first Australian Grand Prix: ‘We’re not quick enough’

Oscar Piastri has conceded ‘inexperience’ may be to blame for a disappointing showing in the qualifying sessions for the Australian Grand Prix and warned the McLaren was ‘not quick enough’. Piastri finished with a fastest time of 1:18.517, missing Q2 by less than two tenths of a second and complained about his McLaren lacking balance. ‘We adjusted the front wing a little bit for the last run and that maybe wasn’t quite the best for the track conditions improving.’ ‘It wasn’t the best preparation for the last lap but it was similar for the cars around me,’ he said. His teammate Lando Norris finished 13th in qualifying, as McLaren’s struggles continued.
