Mullis Snags Pole For Third Annual Podium 500

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – In a field of more than 300 competitors, Jimmy Mullis was the fastest man in town Friday night at the virtual Daytona Int’l Speedway. “I knew it was a strong lap for sure, but I didn’t honestly think it was the pole run,” Mullis told SPEED SPORT. While Mullis was pleased with his pole run, he was quick to point out it doesn’t necessarily mean he’s in a better position for Sunday than he would have been if he’d landed a starting spot deeper in the field. Mullis will be joined on the front row Sunday by Brandon Hauff, who qualified second fastest in the No. “I hate that we missed the pole by .001 seconds), but an outside pole start in a field of more than 340 entries still isn’t too shabby,” noted Hauff after qualifying wrapped up.
