Monaco GP: Lewis Hamilton says Max Verstappen ‘feels he has a lot to prove’

“I think I have done well to avoid all the incidents,” Hamilton said. Verstappen responded: “I have nothing to prove and avoiding contact goes both ways. Hamilton is going for a record eighth world title with Mercedes this year, and is 14 points clear of Verstappen after four races. Hamilton and Verstappen have fought wheel-to-wheel in every one of the four races so far this year and have come close to contact on a number of occasions. Hamilton said: “I am more long-term, it’s-a-marathon-not-a-sprint sort of mentality, which is ultimately why I have the stats I have. “Every year your goal is to extract everything,” Hamilton said. Hamilton says he believes Red Bull “are going to be very, very hard to beat this weekend”. Verstappen said: “We just need to make sure the car us working like we want it to work and then I am sure we will have a competitive car.”.
