Mick Schumacher is ‘set to be without a drive at Haas for next season with Nico Hulkenberg expected to replace him’… but the son of seven-time champion Michael ‘could get reserve role’ to Lewis Hamilton and George Russell at Mercedes

Mick Schumacher could be left without a place on next year’s Formula One grid with Haas reportedly set to replace him with Formula One veteran Nico Hulkenberg. Schumacher has been contracted to Ferrari as part of the Italian outfit’s driver academy. Schumacher though could get some sort of reprieve with Autosport reporting that Mercedes are ‘open’ to handing him a reserve role behind their current drivers Lewis Hamilton and George Russell. Schumacher spent three seasons at Mercedes before retiring in 2012. Asked about the possibility of Mick Schumacher joining in a reserve role in 2023, Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff admitted his interest. Schumacher scored a best finish of sixth at the Austrian Grand Prix in July, but has only recorded two points in 42 races with Haas.
