Mercedes take the blame for Lewis Hamilton’s back problem in the Azerbaijan GP by admitting they pushed him ‘too far’ and caused ‘significant discomfort’… but team confirm he WILL race in Montreal

Mercedes have admitted they stretched Lewis Hamilton beyond his limits at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix but allayed fears he could miss this weekend’s Canadian Grand Prix. ‘On this occasion we pushed the package and our drivers too far,’ Vowles said, after confirming that Hamilton will race in Montreal this weekend. ‘There were a lot of moments when I didn’t know whether I was going to make it and if I was going to be able to keep the car on track,’ Hamilton said after the race. ‘That was the most painful and toughest race I have experienced.’. But Hamilton has received warnings and criticism from some sections of the F1 world following his back pain. Red Bull chief Christian Horner meanwhile accused Mercedes of telling Lewis Hamilton to ‘b****’ as much as possible about the back pain.
