Mercedes say they ‘won’t panic or look for scapegoats’ following their torrid start to the season at the Bahrain Grand Prix… as they promise ‘developments are in the pipeline’ after Lewis Hamilton’s criticism of the car

Mercedes have released a statement in an effort to reassure their fans after a difficult start to the season at the Bahrain Grand Prix. The team have now published a letter to their fans in which they said they won’t panic or look for scapegoats, while also promising developments in which they hope will improve the car. It hurt the team as a whole, after pouring so much hard work into a car that hasn’t met our expectations. The situation we face right now isn’t the one that any of us wanted – but it’s the one we have. ‘Like, I’ve driven so many cars in my life, so I know what a car needs, I know what a car doesn’t need. ‘And I think it’s really about accountability, it’s about owning up and saying ‘yeah, you know what, we didn’t listen to you, it’s not where it needs to be and we’ve got to work’.
