Mercedes remain confident they will convince Lewis Hamilton to stay beyond this year, despite enduring a disastrous start to the season after Brit finished down in fifth place at Bahrain Grand Prix

Mercedes claim they remain confident of re-signing Lewis Hamilton, despite the curveball of a disastrous Bahrain Grand Prix. Asked if the Silver Arrows have a Plan B if Hamilton decides to move elsewhere – or to quit – team principal Toto Wolff said: ‘There is no point talking about the driver situation for 2024. Prior to the race Hamilton said that only a catastrophe would prevent him extending his stay with Mercedes. Mercedes engineers are meeting to discuss a way forward in talks with Wolff this week. Hamilton said: ‘I know we are not where we want to be, but let’s keep pushing.’.
