Max Verstappen won the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix – a victor on a tumultuous day in Imola. Verstappen opened up a consistent five-second lead and one he made to count, not least when Hamilton ran off track in the middle of the race trying to lap George Russell’s Williams. Verstappen, in a class of his own, finished 22 seconds ahead of Hamilton. Verstappen leads by 21 seconds and will deservedly take the win. We have Verstappen leading, with Leclerc and Norris taking up the other podium spots. Verstappen ran into plenty of traffic as he looked to work his way through lapped cars. Verstappen sounds a little under pressure in first currently. Verstappen out in front has just asked his team to let him know if anyone is pitting for slicks. Verstappen’s lead over Hamilton remains nicely ticking over at just over four seconds but the latter is pushing. There will be no investigation into the incident between his Red Bull team-mate Verstappen and Hamilton on that first lap. Verstappen holds an advantage of almost five seconds over second-placed Hamilton now. Below is a shot of that battle between Hamilton and Verstappen from the off. More importantly, at the front Verstappen leads and Hamilton is in P2. Verstappen and Hamilton went wheel to wheel, with the champion forced wide and running out of track.
