Max Verstappen takes advantage of Charles Leclerc being forced out pre-race to WIN the Monaco Grand Prix and move ahead of rival Lewis Hamilton in the race for the world championship

Max Verstappen won the Monaco Grand Prix to rip the world championship lead off Lewis Hamilton, who finished a miserable seventh despite setting the fastest lap. LAP 48/78: Just 30 laps to go, not much happening out there really. LAP 44/78: Hamilton is now four seconds down on Gasly and struggling to hang on, and is now 32 seconds down on Verstappen. LAP 40/78: Hamilton by the way is now 26 seconds down on Hamilton. LAP 23/78: Verstappen is dropping Bottas now – the gap up to 4.5 seconds. LAP 21/78: Hamilton is now 15 seconds behind Verstappen but also 10 seconds down on Sainz. LAP 11/78: Verstappen’s lead is still just under two seconds ahead of Bottas. LAP 4/78: New fastest lap from Bottas, Hamilton already nine seconds behind the leaders.
