Max Verstappen will receive a five-place grid penalty at the Belgian Grand Prix after he was ruled to have exceeded his gearbox allowance for the 2023 season. F1 regulations limit drivers to four gearbox assemblies per season, but Red Bull have elected to make the switch to a fifth for Sunday’s race at the Spa-Francorchamps. Qualifying for Sunday’s race will take place on Friday, with the season’s third sprint race set to take place on Saturday. The Red Bull star enters the the twelfth race of the season with a commanding 110-point lead at the top of the Drivers standings, with teammate Sergio Perez in a distant second.
