Max Verstappen says Lewis Hamilton is ‘not his only threat as he gears towards a third consecutive championship title… with the Dutchman naming George Russell, Lando Norris and Charles Levlerc’ as contenders

Max Verstappen says Lewis Hamilton is not the only driver that could challenge him for the Formula 1 title and admits he ‘cannot afford to make big mistakes’ during the 2023 season. Verstappen won a record-breaking 15 races last season to pick up the title and surpass the previous record of 13, that was held by Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel. Speaking to Sky Sports, Verstappen said: ‘He’s been one of the greatest drivers ever in the sport, so for sure if he has the car to do it, he can fight for the title again,’ said Verstappen of Hamilton. He added: ‘But that’s the same for George [Russell, Hamilton’s team-mate]. Verstappen will be looking to win his third consecutive championship title following successes in 2021 and 2022 season.
