‘But one thing I always tried to work on since I was a little kid is being adaptable in the car. Some people would say you have an hour to get up to speed, but my father said, “No, you have to do it in three laps”. ‘Of course, I want to win and it would be an amazing race to win, and I have a lot of respect for the drivers who do it. But first of all, I have never raced an oval, so that would take a bit of time to get used to. Some people are quick but don’t know why or how to explain it. ‘Lando knows what he is doing, and that is good for McLaren. We have flown to races a few times and I have got to know him a little better.
