Max Verstappen took the world championship lead after storming to victory in an exciting Spanish Grand Prix that saw Lewis Hamilton produce a fine comeback drive from last to fifth – despite wanting to quit the race!. Carlos Sainz, whom he had passed, breezed past Hamilton on the last lap. LAP 57/66: Red Bull seem to have sewn this race up so what’s happening elsewhere?. LAP 44/66: Verstappen pits, and he doesn’t have a safe looking gap to Russell in third. LAP 33/66: Red Bull’s plan to clear Russell with Verstappen seem to be coming into its own. LAP 24/66: Meanwhile, Hamilton pits and comes out in 19th just ahead of Magnussen. LAP 20/66: Verstappen is all over Russell but this is a clumsy race from the world champion. LAP 15/66: Having said that, Red Bull then report to Verstappen that it did work on the his in-lap with the Dutchman following Russell in and out of the pitlane.
