WHITESBURG, Ga. — After losing the lease to promote Senoia (Ga.) Raceway two weeks prior, Mayes Massey and Doug Stevens have signed on to operate West Georgia Speedway in Whitesburg, Ga. The duo plan to operate the three-eighths-mile clay oval on Saturday nights this season. The deal came together with West Georgia Speedway owner Sammy Duke in just a few days. Duke, Massey and Stevens met several times including a walk-through of the track. Plans include widening the surface by removing the inside guardrail by late February. Other special events featuring super late models, limited late models, sprint cars and monster trucks are being planned.
