Lewis Hamilton’s ‘unlucky situation WILL stop’, claims Mercedes chief Toto Wolff as he insists ‘the pendulum will swing’ because the Brit’s pace in Monaco proves he can compete… despite being 75 points behind leader Max Verstappen

Mercedes chief Toto Wolff claimed Lewis Hamilton’s ‘unlucky situation’ this season will come to an end as he backed the Brit to pull through. Hamilton has struggled to compete this year, managing just one podium finish when Red Bull were forced into a double retirement during the season opener in Bahrain. However, if he is to compete, Hamilton may need a hand from the team’s engineers after suffering from the ‘porpoising’ effect on fast straights this season and discomfort on Monaco’s bumpy track. ‘I am looking forward to some more open track and I am praying that it is not as bumpy as here.’.
