Lewis Hamilton takes to the track as an early pace-setter on day two of F1 pre-season testing in Barcelona… as defending champion Max Verstappen gets the day off from Red Bull with Sergio Perez flying solo

Lewis Hamilton laid down an early marker as the pace-setter on day two of Formula One testing in Barcelona. A busy opening day on Wednesday saw McLaren’s Lando Norris go quickest overall but as teams placed a focus on testing aerodynamics on Wednesday it was Hamilton who put in the best time among the early runners before he returned to the pits after just three laps. The Dutchman logged 147 laps on the first day, more than any other driver. The season gets underway in Bahrain on March 20 and this opening three-day test in Barcelona is invaluable to teams and drivers in understanding their machinery for the season ahead.
