Lewis Hamilton silenced critics with stunning recovery drive to fifth from 19th, only the wind can stop Max Verstappen and Ferrari’s season is in danger of unravelling after Charles Leclerc DNF… SEVEN things we learned from the Spanish GP

Typical of the 2022 Formula One season, the Spanish Grand Prix offered plenty of twists and turns during an entertaining race at the Circuit de Catalunya. The best he could do was frustrate them – and that’s exactly what he did during the first part of the race. Perez even led the race after getting past the Brit, having been switched to a different strategy to Verstappen. After three races Charles Leclerc led the world championship by 34 points – and 46 ahead of Verstappen, while the team led the constructors championship by 39 points – and 49 ahead of Red Bull. Considering Sainz struggled with his Ferrari to finish a fortunate fourth, three races on from Australia Leclerc now trails Verstappen by six points while the team now trail Red Bull by 26 points.
