Lewis Hamilton says he is ‘thinking of Michael Schumacher today’ as he wishes the stricken Formula One legend a happy 52nd birthday after equalling the German’s record seven world titles last season

Sir Lewis Hamilton has told Formula One legend Michael Schumacher he is ‘thinking of him’ in a touching message on social media. World champion Hamilton also wished Schumacher, who turned 52 years old on Sunday, a happy birthday on his Instagram story post. Hamliton, who replaced Schumacher at Mercedes after he retired in 2013, posted a picture of the pair together wearing the constructor’s kit and wrote: ‘Happy Birthday Michael, thinking of you today.’. Hamilton equalled Schumacher’s record of seven World Drivers’ Championship titles with victory in the drawn-out 2020 season. Hamilton has also repeatedly spoken about the influence F1 icon Schumacher had on him from an early age and after he entered F1.
