Lewis Hamilton is ‘offered a huge £62MILLION-a-season extension at Mercedes – a rise of £22m’ – as 38-year-old British F1 star weighs up new deal which ‘also includes a 10-year ambassador role’ after he retires

Lewis Hamilton has been offered a sensational £62million-a-season contract by Mercedes – which prospective Man United owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his company Ineos could pay up to 90 per cent of – according to reports in France. There had been talks of Hamilton leaving Mercedes when his contract is up – although team boss Toto Wolff is confident he will stay. Mercedes are sponsored by Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s Ineos – who are reportedly set to pay 90 per cent of the contract. Ratcliffe, Britain’s wealthiest man, part-owns Mercedes and is friends with Hamilton. In fact, Hamilton expressed his desire to get into club ownership with Sir Jim in the future.
