Lewis Hamilton ignites row with old rival Max Verstappen as he suggests a rule change to put the brakes on Red Bull’s runaway success

Lewis Hamilton ignited a row with his old rival Max Verstappen on Thursday night by calling for a radical rule change to put the brakes on Red Bull’s runaway success. To which Verstappen replied that Hamilton was only complaining because he was no longer winning. The spat started ahead of Sunday’s Austrian Grand Prix, Red Bull’s home grand prix, as Hamilton outlined his plan to delay the world champions’ development of their 2024 car. He said: ‘Red Bull are already focusing on next year because they’re so far ahead and don’t need to change this year’s car. ‘Ferrari were ahead and the same thing happened there, the same with Red Bull and Seb (Vettel) back in the day.
