Lewis Hamilton goes quicker than his title rival Max Verstappen by more than half a second in Abu Dhabi FP2… as session is ended early by Kimi Raikkonen smashing into the wall on his last weekend as an F1 driver

Lewis Hamilton drew first blood in the battle for the Formula One title by going over half a second quicker than Max Verstappen in the second practice session in Abu Dhabi on Friday afternoon. Lewis Hamilton is back at the top of the timesheets after a huge lap, the first man down into the 1:23s… and quite far into them, too. Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen go toe-to-toe during free practice two a few minutes ago. Hamilton is 0.043 behind him, so not much in it at all. Lando Norris also had one chalked off for the same reason – it seems the stewards are hot on it for second session. Lando Norris, the only driver out on track on softs, is currently running P2 behind Hamilton. Here’s how the first session went… with Verstappen leading Bottas and Hamilton. Not long to go of the session, but it’s still Red Bull and Max Verstappen leading the pack, with a 1:25.009. On the time-sheets, it’s still Verstappen leading Hamilton, but only by 0.055 now. The first of those begins in 20 minutes, with the second session this afternoon at 1pm.
