The first day of F1 pre-season testing has begun at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Barcelona on Wednesday, with Max Verstappen’s Red Bull coming home only sixth fastest. World champion Verstappen was among the first drivers back out on track , with George Russell also taking to his new Mercedes car for the first time with the rest of the field. McLaren’s Lando Norris was the first driver out on track, with Russell closely behind him as the two British stars wasted no time in getting back behind the wheel. However, not too much should be read into times at testing, with teams operating different approaches and strategies over the course of the three-day event.
