Returning FIA World Rally Championship star Esapekka Lappi has ruled himself out of a surprise victory at this week’s Secto Automotive Rally Finland (1 – 3 October). Lappi will drive a World Rally Car for the first time since last season when he returns to a Toyota Yaris at the Jyväskylä-based event. Talking after his first test aboard a Yaris WRC since leaving Toyota for Citroën at the end of 2018, Lappi said: “The car feels really nice. The speed was good from the test road, but that’s not the same as the first stage. Lappi’s private RTE-Motorsport team has hired a Yaris from the factory Toyota Gazoo Racing squad. “It was really nice to be back [in the car] and really nice to be back with the team,” he acknowledged.
