It could be argued that “Lady in Black” owes Kyle Larson. Out of those, Larson has finished in the top five on five occasions. Entering the 2022 edition of the Southern 500, Larson has recorded 686 laps led at the 1.3-mile track. That’s his most laps led at a track that he hasn’t won at. Larson said a Darlington win “is the next one on my list” of track he hasn’t won at. “I really want to win and have been close so many times,” Larson said. “I’ve had the dominant car in that race a couple of times. “We ran at Darlington earlier this year and we blew up, but we had a fast car.
