‘He’s certainly not crazy’: Red Bull chief Christian Horner defends Max Verstappen for repeated incidents with Lewis Hamilton and insists he WON’T ‘try to win the title in the gravel trap’ in pre-planned crash at Abu Dhabi title decider

Christian Horner has launched a powerful defence of Max Verstappen, insisting his driver won’t look to take out Lewis Hamilton in their title decider in Abu Dhabi. After their collision in Saudi Arabia, eventual race-winner Hamilton described second-placed Verstappen as ‘f****** crazy’. In the most controversial incident of the race, on lap 37 Verstappen was ordered to hand first place back to Hamilton. Should Verstappen finish ahead of Hamilton, however, he will clinch Red Bull’s first championship since Sebastian Vettel in 2013. He also believes that despite Hamilton’s legacy in the sport, Verstappen would get the better of him in equal machinery.
