Hamlin Tops Cup Series Talladega Qualifying

TALLADEGA, Ala. — Denny Hamlin will start on pole for Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Talladega Superspeedway. The 42-year-old described his outlook on Sunday’s race, and what it takes to find success at the superspeedway. “I struggle because this type of racing does not fit my skill set at superspeedways,” Hamlin remarked. With it being such a teammate type of race or manufacturer type race, I’ve always pushed to just let me do my own thing or be on my own, but it’s very hard in this climate and this type of racing for that to be successful. After a succesful 10th-place result in his first race back from injury, Chase Elliott qualified 29th.
