When M-Sport Ford driver Gus Greensmith arrives at the start of next month’s Croatia Rally (22 – 25 April), his immediate focus will – even more than usual – be on the first stage. Last time out at Arctic Rally Finland, Greensmith shipped 41sec in the opening 31km Sarriojärvi speed test in Lapland. Following that, Greensmith found his feet and was able to get to within a second of his Fiesta World Rally Car team-mate Teemu Suninen on one stage. “One thing I do want to work on is the first stage. On too many rallies I’m giving my rally away by having a bad time on stage one.
