Mercedes driver George Russell saw his Singapore Grand Prix take a cruel turn on Sunday as he crashed into the barrier on the final lap. The 25-year-old was pushing hard for a podium finish after a late pit stop and had made it to third place on the final lap. He had been within a second of Norris, but ended up in the barriers on the second sector of his final lap while pushing for an overtake. His teammate Lewis Hamilton made it past the crashed car into third, while Russell was unable to finish the race. The Dutchman started in 11th and failed to pit with most other drivers during a yellow flag after 20 laps.
