George Russell apologises for Valtteri Bottas crash in Emilia Romagna Grand Prix

Russell said he “takes responsibility” for the risk he took in trying to pass the Finn’s Mercedes not paying off. And he added that his emotions “got the better of me” after the incident. After the race, Russell accused Bottas of lacking respect for the dangers of Formula 1, and said he had questioned whether Bottas would have defended differently if he had been racing another driver. Russell said in a statement on social media that Sunday “wasn’t my proudest day”. “It didn’t pay off and I have to take responsibility for that. “There is never a situation in life where one is responsible and the other zero,” Wolff said. Wolff rejected the claim that Bottas had reacted differently because of the context of him fighting Russell.
