The FOX Australian Supercross Championship will return to Newcastle with the marquee event, the AUSX Triple Crown, kicking off the series at McDonald Jones Stadium on November 11. The AUSX Triple Crown will again be a unique event for Newcastle with a bespoke race format known as the ‘Championship within the Championship’. “Last year’s Australian Supercross Championship was a huge success with almost 20,000 people coming from all over the region to McDonald Jones Stadium for one of the events of the year,” Mather said. Newcastle Councillor Peta Winney-Baartz believes the return of the Australian Supercross Championship to Newcastle was testament to the community’s support for hosting major events of this type in the city.
