Formula 1 dropping standard gearbox plan ‘disappoints’ Xtrac

Gearbox supplier Xtrac says it is “disappointed” by the FIA’s decision not to pursue a common gearbox cassette for all Formula 1 teams from 2021.
Peter Digby: “Given our extensive experience with other global ‘sole-supplier’ formulas we felt we were ideally placed to meet the specific challenges laid out in the tender document, which specifically asked for a high level, lightweight gearbox and actuation system based very closely on what the F1 teams use today.”
