FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem insists that Formula 1’s governing body will have a say on who controls the commercial rights. This week, F1’s American owner Liberty Media lashed back at Ben Sulayem after he said the FIA is “cautious” about reports that Saudi Arabia is interested in buying the sport for $20 billion. Dubai-born Ben Sulayem, however, appears reluctant to back down for now. The new spat between the FIA and F1 indicates that the former may now be looking to renegotiate that deal. “So far there are only rumours about a possible sale,” said Ben Sulayem. “But the FIA should have a say and be able to offer advice.”.
