EXCLUSIVE: ‘It would be nice to end our careers together. I’d love that’: Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton once despised each other, but now Aston Martin’s golden oldie says reuniting with the seven-time world champion would be perfect

In contrast to the 1,000-yard stares of Formula One’s foot soldiers battling jet lag Down Under stands the jaunty air of Fernando Alonso climbing closer to the top of his world. And Alonso dreams of another world title to go with his two from 2005 and 2006 with Renault. Alonso left the team in high dudgeon and never won a title again. Now Alonso says: ‘I have made changes to my fitness regime, travel routine and what I eat. ‘I want to be two to three years at this level,’ says Alonso. ‘That is why I came back to Formula One in 2021 after a couple of years out. ‘I will think about my future after that,’ says Alonso. ‘I may have had enough of that after 23 or 24 years doing it.
